The Artists Wardrobe

It is a lovely surprise contrast to the clean fresh palate in this Artist inspired bedroom, to open the wardrobe door and find simply treated very natural interiors. There is something tactile and beautiful about storing and taking your personal items from simple hardwood drawers, cupboards and hanging space.

The brief here was to create wardrobes either side of the chimney in this artists art deco house.

As this was a bedroom, we proposed to keep the doors white and in a simple Shaker style to sit calmly with the walls. Inside we opted to have hanging space, cube shelving and full extension drawers in lovely English Ash to create a natural, organic, beautifully tactile experience for the user. We like the way the handles, chosen by the client, give a hint of the wood inside and they look great, being in keeping with the rest of the home.

From The Customer

We approached Hout to make our fitted wardrobes. Quality workmanship, design and best use of space were all high on our agenda.  Sjouke provided all of these and more. Sjouke came up with design ideas and options of materials we could use. Nothing was too much trouble.

He made the process very easy. From the options offered we chose to paint the doors but contrast the inside with wood, adding soft close draws with simple cut-outs instead of handles on the inside. I really liked the attention to detail.

Loving the wardrobes so much we later asked for a desk and draw set for our son’s bedroom. Absolutely delighted with the results here too. The grain on the Ash that we were advised to use is beautiful. The craftsmanship on these is superb.

It was a pleasure to work with Hout and we would not hesitate to recommend Sjouke and Tracy.”
