Bespoke Interior Fitted Furniture and Architectural Joinery

From creative space saving fitted furniture to  unique custom-made statement staircases, our joinery workshop creates high quality bespoke interiors in wood, offering refined design and storage solutions for any home or commercial business.

We believe that considered, well designed interiors, fitted wooden furniture and specialist joinery can transform your space. A perfectly flowing, functional room crafted with beautiful built-in English hardwood furniture can bring restorative calm to an otherwise busy and demanding environment.

Lucky to be living in Cumbria with its amazing local mix of centuries old heavy stone walls and environmentally sensitive modern architecture, we are a small creative team working across The Lake District, North Lancashire and Yorkshire.

With over 25 years’ experience designing and creating in timber we have the capacity to welcome and execute creative, bespoke furniture or technically challenging interior structural and architectural joinery projects. We love maximising the beauty and benefit of both old and new, always looking to harmonise and balance a functional, natural environment with understated luxury to create healthy spaces that are a joy to use.

We also welcome collaborative work with structural engineers, interior designers, and architects.

THE BESPOKE FITTED HOME OFFICE

Bespoke fitted home office furniture in a space which incorporates a stained-glass window casting beautiful light across one corner of the room. Two built in workstations with file storage, a fitted wall unit and a dresser with drawers offer lots of storage space in a clutter free, dedicated area of calm and organisation. Natural materials can have a positive influence on health and well-being – ideal for a productive creative workspace.

THE MODERN FITTED UTILITY ROOM

The client wanted their utility design to include bespoke, discrete, built in wooden furniture in a passageway. One side was to house the ‘utility room’ and cleaning materials, the other side was for storage of coats, shoe racks and larger cleaning appliances eg vacuum etc. They did not want to see any of the items but to have them easily accessible. The large, fitted wardrobes contain a number of clever storage solutions with boxes, drawers, pull out larders and rails – it is a highly functional and beautifully organised space.

THE ARTISTS FITTED BEDROOM WARDROBES

The brief here was to create fitted bedroom furniture either side of the chimney in this artist’s art deco inspired home. As this was a bedroom, we proposed to keep the wardrobe doors white and in a simple Shaker style to sit calmly with the walls. Inside the built in wardrobes we opted to include hanging space, cube shelving, and full extension drawers in lovely English Ash to create a natural, organic, beautifully tactile experience for the user.

THE HOMEGROWN TRULY BESPOKE STAIRCASE

We were approached by a client converting a traditional Yorkshire Dales barn, to design and make a bespoke staircase for their new home. This was to use a beautiful old Sycamore Tree, sustainably sourced from their own land (a requirement) for the build, to create the staircase with a small top level mezzanine construction and built in under stair storage. We really liked the idea of the tree evolving and having a continuing useful presence in its own surroundings – circular regeneration in staircase manufacture.

THE BESPOKE INTERIOR HOME DRINKS BAR

Rather than a more elaborate Cocktail bar, this client wanted to create a simple, built-in space to gather and admire the setting sun at the end of the day. It was to be a functional addition to their living room easy to clean and maintain. Inspired by the clients we used Cumbrian Ash to create fitted bar furniture containing drinks and glass storage with simple, elegant wall units in a unique style to complement their living space.

THE BESPOKE ENTRANCE BOOT ROOM

This couple came to us wanting an interior renovation of their entrance/lobby area. They were looking to have a bespoke creative design in wood that would be welcoming and practical – that would function as a boot room where they could sit to change shoes and able to house all of their outdoor gear, shoes, jackets etc – in an open plan living space.

We chose locally sourced English ash planks for the fitted joinery to make an authentic connection between the nearby natural world and the couple’s clean, fresh, contemporary living style. We brought their bespoke boot room ideas to life using locally sourced English ash and taking the horizontal lines of the slatted wall to the base of the staircase for cohesion and created an under-stair storage closet providing built in shelving and hanging space for clothing and gear.

Bespoke wooden hanging pegs harmonise with the ash planks for jackets whilst beneath the sitting bench, built in storage drawers pivot open from the bottom for easy access and shoe changing. It’s a great space and really compliments the couple’s lifestyle and interests.
